No more math ever again AND PJ (aka Mr.Competitive) got a C in economics and his class even got curves where ours had NO curves at all. This really is an X-Mas miracle haha.Ok time to go clean and decorate the house.Later my elves.

i need to vent

so today is Sankt Nikolaus day and since Danielle isn't at home her mom wrapped up a little gift for her to open today. I walk out of my room and she starts bitching to me that it was "only an advent calendar" and that her mom "finds ways to piss her off even when she isn't around" and also "last year they gave me the fucking Elf dvd why would I want that?" She is all upset because they gave her brother $50 or something and all she gets are "crappy gifts." WHAT THE HELL?!!!! I'm sorry but that's just so greedy and bitchy. There are people who sleep on burlap bags every night and here she is whining over the lack of $50. Let's put things in perspective here.

One: We don't live in Germany so you really don't have to celebrate it at all even if that's where all your family is from.

Two: We aren't 6 years old.

Three: She will be getting more than enough gifts for X-Mas itself.

Four: My parents would tear me a new one if I acted like that.

Five: Last time I checked you were only supposed to get candy in your shoes not a new wardrobe.

Six: What would $50 buy her..half a sock??

Ok there's more things I could come up with but I will refrain. So if you'll excuse me I have to go wallow in self pity over the fact that I only get gifts on the first night of Chanukah.....

yesterday morning we got a call from Nan and long story short Granddad had some blod clots in his brain rupture but because of the meds he is on, it made them bleed more so his whole brain got damaged and they did some life saving surgery, but if he comes out of it he will pretty much be a vegetable anyway. They had to transfer him from Queens to Manhattan so Mom and Dad have been back and forth to the city since yesterday.Right now it looks like he is completely brain-dead though and you really don't come out of that now do you. I just feel really bad for Nan because Uncle Al is dying and now this. She's one of the best people in the world and is so selfless and doesn't deserve all this shit that's happening to her.Anyway that's all for now.Later.

Today was the final lunch for the academic bistro. Chef Hall was out so it was thoroughly enjoyable. I took away a lot from that class though. It was pretty cool the way they just put us in charge of the restaurant with no guidance every week. It was also really good to have the experience of working in the kitchen and preparing/plating food as well as “waitressing” even though I want my career to be far removed from the kitchen. Just having the experience of working against the clock to prepare a three course meal or preparing food for a catered event for a bunch of people was amazing. I learned some pretty awesome cooking skills too if nothing else. I think the whole “trying your hardest isn’t good enough” approach actually worked on all of us because we produced great tasting/looking food along with fantastic customer service that only improved every week. At first I thought she was crazy when she said it has to be run like a 4 star (or 5 star now) restaurant, but we got a lot out of it that way and in the end it was so rewarding. Ok I will shut up now. Time to look for some X-Mas gifts.

Brian,PJ, and I went to the basketball game last night that decided whether or not Drexel advanced to the NIT season tip off at Madison Square Garden. It was on ESPN2 so of course the place was packed. It was so fun we were going nuts because Sam Houston State just couldn't kick their asses. So now Drexel is gonna play the number one division I team Duke at MSG on Wednesday so I am hoping to get tickets to that even though Duke is gonna slaughter us.If not I will hafta watch it on TV..that will suck.

Hmmm Wal-Mart

Last night Danielle and I went to a screening of the documentary "Wal-Mart:The High Cost of Low Price".I had high expectations for the movie since I hate Wal-Mart,but it let me down.Robert Greenwald (the director) could have had a good case if he took his strong points and ran with them, but instead he chose to pick out everything Wal-Mart has ever done wrong.Instead of developing his point on how Wal-Mart treats their employees like crap he decided to bitch(and drag out)the dumbest things.Case in point,a lot of crimes are committed in Wal-Mart parking lots so therefore "Wal-Mart doesn't care about their customers".BIG DEAL.You have to be pretty damn naive to think that any company in Corporate America really gives a flying shit about their customers.I'm not rallying for Wal-Mart by any means, but do you really think the Disney Corporation cares about their customers? If they did they would give each kid a free stuffed animal and each parent a bottle of valium as they entered one of their many theme parks everyday. Why do you think all of the rides at Disney theme parks let you out in the gift shop?Coincindence?Maybe to Robert Greenwald since Wal-Mart is obviously the only company who is out to make a profit.Bottom line is that while there is no excuse for Wal-Mart treating its employees like crap,I came to the realization that I hate Wal-Mart for a completely different reason than everyone else.It attracts rednecks and is a breeding ground for them.I had never been in a Wal-Mart until I moved to the 'burbs and the first time I went in,it frightened the shit outta me.People with MULLETS,teeth missing, making out with their brothers/sisters (exaggeration),purchasing cinderblocks to prop their trailers (home sweet home)up on and who knows what else.It was creepy to say the least.Anyway that's why Wal-Mart sucks.Sorry to sound like a big city bitch but that's basically what I am.

i'm grouchy...roar!!

Here's the deal.Last night/this morning I'm sitting in my room to get away from Danielle bitching about how her ipod is broken (I had already been listening to her for 4 hours) and my phone rings at around 1:30am and it is Grant."I just got outta work and I have to be back at 7am can i crash at your place?" Ok fine he gets here 10 mins later and he fails to mention that he had been at the bar after "just getting out of work."So he turns into a complete dick when he is drunk. He goes through all our food and complains about everything. Finally he finds something,Danielle goes to sleep (which is all i wanted to do at that point),but no Grant wants to go in my room and talk.So he is bitching for like an hour about work and finally passes out on my floor at 3:30am.He snores the whole night so I get NO sleep and at 6am his alarm goes off..he gets up and goes back to sleep. At 7:30am his cell rings and it is his boss asking where the hell he is.So I had to get up and let him out.Now I couldn't fall back to sleep and have been up since. It was pretty funny tho I threw him my giant Eeyore pillow animal to use and he goes "this is so soft and fuzzy, you hafta come to the Four Seasons gift shop and feel our teddy bears..they are really soft" then he had a fascination with my slippers with the giant stars and moons on them and he was putting them on his feet. What a goofball. But yeah I am grouchy beware.

i live in the ghetto

OH DEAR...last night Danielle and I went to see Saw II,it was pretty good, but afterwards when we got out of the movie theater we are waiting to cross the street and all these giant black guys (at least 15 of them) surrounded us and started saying weird crap.To Danielle they were like "where did you get those small fuckin tits" and then they said shit to me but I don't know what since I ignored them and sort of moved away and then a few of them walked over to me again talking shit.So we decided to cross the street in the other direction and they were yelling at us still as we were walking away like "where you sexy ladies going, come back be charitable".I felt really bad because Danielle was REALLLLY freaked out.She was practically running back home.Needless to say once we got back to the apartment Danielle tapped into her bottle of rum.Time to start carrying a golf club up my sleeve.Anywho I'm off to make some pumpkin cookies since this is the most Halloween-like thing I will be doing this year.

I had a blast yesterday in that lunch class.Who woulda thought?I was waitressing again, and the "Red Hat Club" aka a bunch of old philanthropic battle axes who wear gaudy red hats had reservations to eat at the restaurant. So they were all there.25 of them I think.Senile old women are hysterical. One lady disguised vodka in her water bottle and snuck that in and decided to mix that with her Metamucil.I guess the Metamucil alone isn't enough to make her crap easier. So they were all really cute and bitchy, but I really did have fun.Mike and Kate were working front of the house with me.It was so fun.By the end when we were discussing how well the day went and our profit etc,Chef Hall handed us all $2 bills and said that one of the old women gave them to her to hand out to us because it's "good luck".AWWWW.Too sweet.I think we did really well in tips too yesterday.Anyway I gotta get ready for some anthropology fun..later kids.

i did it

The headache of having to run the restaurant is over with.It went fairly smooth.Adrienne seemed impressed which is all I could ask for.I planned out everything really well so there was even time for me to cook staff lunch so that all our employees wouldn't complain about being hungry. All the customers seemed to like the menu and I got to try most of the food and it really was good, but that's what you get when I'm head chef.Only kidding.I'm pretty sure we made a profit, but Tina and I didn't go over the post production report yet so we shall see.I am so relieved now.Only one thing went wrong.Ziccardi decided to show up an hour and a half late.By that time we were clearing tables and cleaning up so we gave him what was left over and Adrienne yells at us to make him something fresh.Mike saved my ass and took care of it but Ziccardi hated the food.He can go screw himself though because lunch was only supposed to be served between 12pm and 1pm anyway.Mom and Dad drove down here and ate at the restaurant which was really nice even though I saw them for all of 5 seconds. They were proud of me and enjoyed the food etc.I learned that:

A)I'm better at bossing people around than I thought
B)I can cook a large number of appetizers, entrees, and desserts for a large amount of people under pressure
C)Being head chef kicks ass, because what's better than being in complete control?
D)I'm glad I'm not a culinary major because I would really hate to do that for the rest of my life

I'm sooo sleepy. My phone went off at 3am,it was Brian who thought it would be funny to hold the phone up to the TV and record some porno sounds onto a voicemail for me.Lovely, especially when I was in a deep sleep.I was tempted to run upstairs and beat the crap outta him,but I channeled my anger quite nicely.Anyway the weekend needs to get here soon.Keep cool my babies.....

My mom must think i am a serious dyke.We are watching some wedding show and I was criticizing the bride for giving a crap about her veil or something and my mom was like "don't you have any desire or motivation when it comes to a wedding?"Sorry I'm not a typical girl.I don't fantasize about my wedding day or even getting married at all.So I said that and she was like "well i guess you just have no imagination then".What the fuck.I just don't care.I'm young. Why do I have to think about that at all?MAYBE if I had a boyfriend I would think about that stuff. But I really don't want a guy cramping my style at this point in time.I couldn't believe how annoyed that got my mom.Plus if you really love someone it shouldn't matter what your stupid dress looks like or if the lace garter belt exactly matches the trim on the bottom of the dress that no one can see to begin with.UGH.Anyway I'm off to draw up the many designs I want my bridesmaids to wear....squee

this evening Brian,PJ,and I went to the supermarket and we are standing there and we see some guy run out and people are screaming and shouting.Sooo this is what went down.

This guy was stealing a bunch of crap and as he was running out he tripped on a baby stroller and the baby flew out of the stroller. The father of the baby got super pissed and ran after the guy, tackled him,put him in a headlock and kept him there til the crappy supermarket security dragged their asses over to this guy.So that's the second time within two weeks where I've been at that supermarket and watched some giant scene unfold with shoplifters.Good times.Anyway go to the Fresh Grocer if you want to see flying babies!!

what isn't fun: the lunch class from 8:30am to 4:30pm,then having a math quiz in math class from 7pm-10pm,then coming back and doing economic homework that is due by 11:45pm online.

The lunch class was ok.I didn't love it and I didn't hate it.Being a waitress is irritating because people with no manners just piss me off.Is it really that taxing to say "thank you"?Um no.Next week I'm head chef and in the back of the house so luckily I don't have to put up with the public.People are so fussy when it comes to food.Adrienne was a pain in the ass as always. She acts like this is a freakin five star restaurant. The woman needs to get laid badly.I guess if I were a fat, ugly bitch in her thirties I would be uptight too.Anywho next week the pressure is on.Hopefully our menu will go over well with the customers and we will make some type of a profit.Brian and PJ said they would come by and support me and my parents might show up too. They all better tip well haha.Oh yeah I was serving this extremely good looking guy..he was all alone too.Damn what a missed opportunity.

I was talking to Grant today and he changed his Halloween party to Halloween itself. He was being really nice and was gonna come pick me up but I have the freakin lunch class at 8:30 again the next morning.ARGHH!!Good job Grant how many people are gonna go to Jersey for that. It's gonna be him sitting there all alone dressed up as Frankenstein or whatever with a beer in his hands.ANDDD on a final note some Drexel kid supposedly got mugged on campus and was beaten into a coma. Way to go Drexel security you get an F for effort.

here's something funny i just read...and it's funny because they are obviously referring to philly in this..

you know you're a new yorker when....

You go away to school in another city (5th largest in the country) and you insult it by calling it "a cute little city", bitching about the asinine public transportation system, moaning the dearth of post- midnight options. You confuse everyone when you refer to "the City" and assume that they mean NY too. You think that everyone understands the boroughs. You grew up using Yiddish, Italian, and Spanish phrases even though you're Irish Catholic. You get your roommates hooked on real bagels that you bring back from home. You walk without fear not because you're naive but because you know exactly what you're doing. You don't cringe at panhandlers anymore. You cross streets between the traffic with perfect timing. People are fascinated and/or repelled by how fast you walk, how fast you talk, how much you curse, and how funny your accent is. You know you walk and talk at the right pace, you don't notice that you curse, and you don't have an accent - they do!

so I think I'm maturing. After I went to the gym I stopped by the mailbox to pick up our mail and it turns out i got a package from Aunt Sue and family (got a card from mom and dad too for Rosh Hashanah..shit i shoulda gotten them a card)anywho yeah so i got a package. So it was a nice Yankee candle and some money along with a New Apartment card. For some reason I was really compelled to write a card back right away and I did and I wrote A LOT too. It's weird because for a long time I had a lot of built up anger towards Aunt Sue and all of them really just because of how inconsiderate they were when Großvater died and how they wouldn't go just because it was a Jewish funeral even after how nice he was to them.I guess it wouldn't have bothered me as much if he hadn't survived Nazi Germany and if half our family hadn't been wiped out then, but for some reason I feel relieved of all that anger I had towards them.I don't even know why.I wrote how they should come visit me because I miss them and I actually meant it.I just didn't bullshit like I normally do.I guess I've come to realize that everyone has their faults and even if their actions hurt all of us in the past that it's done and over with now. They were all there for me when I started cutting myself especially that Thanksgiving where I had a fucking breakdown at the table right before the whole family started eating. So I suppose I've overlooked all the good things Aunt Sue,Uncle Ed,KJ,and Erik have done for me.No matter how much they piss me off and irritate me,I do actually care a lot about them.Hell I'm surprising myself.I never forgive anyone for anything.Anyway it was really nice of them to send me that stuff.Ok go to hell everyone I can't be that nice for too long.Later!

Last night was insane and I didn't even drink.First off PJ called and told me to come down to the beach volleyball courts because he was DJing there and needed company so Danielle and I went. After that we went upstairs to Brian's and Brian and Danielle drank a lot.My stomach was killing me so I didn't drink but oh wow it was hilarious.Brian was acting like a nutcase. He would rub my back and I'd ask "what are you doing" so he says "trying to make your stomach feel better".haha.Then he was jumping around and blasting music so loud I really thought the neighbors were gonna call security.Anyway I was a "party pooper" according to Brian and left at 1 because I was sleepy.ooh yeah and every five minutes Brian would hold his bottle of vodka up and start singing "Circle of Life" hahahaa i was in tears the whole night.
SOOO today classes started.Anthropology was good.It figures Lauren Lopez transferred to Drexel and was in my class.I can't get away from these fucking WWP people. They are like a giant snobby plague.I also met a girl who is a culinary major and she put my mind at ease for tomorrow's class with the bitch Adrienne so that made me feel better.Economics was awesome. Our professor is funny as hell. Now I just got an e-mail from Sarit saying that I was switched into tonight's Design and Marketing class so now I will be with PJ and Brian.YAYY!!!

So this is comical. That thugged out Kelly Deli worker who was always rapping out loud about "killin bitches" remembered me from last year.Danielle and I were walking on Race St and he was there and just as I said to Danielle "look who it is" he looks and me and goes "Yo girl what up how you doin". The finest men always remember me it seems!!! I shoulda asked him if he killed any bitches over the summer..damn.Maybe next time.

So last night Brian showed up at 9:30 and by 2am I was pretty tired. He was playing poker and talking to Clarky anyway so at 2 I was like "okay I am going to bed, let yourself out and lock the door when you leave".So he goes "but your company hasn't left yet!!" hahaha i can't wait for PJ to get back so he can entertain Brian 24/7.Yeah so I went to bed with my "company" still here. How rude.

so i woke up feeling grouchy and now after my cell phone being knocked into the toilet (at least the water was clean),the phone completely dying, walking 4 miles in jeans and sweating my ass off to get to the verizon store just to have them tell me "we need the head of the account to be here to sign this fucking piece of paper" i am pretty pissed off.I have such shitty luck. Now I need to bother Mom to come back to Philly just to sign a piece of paper.ARGHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!And I love the people at Verizon "well you are eligible for an upgrade so you have that working for you".Fuck off don't pretend that you guys are doing me any favors it is a two year old cell phone and i am still gonna hafta pay through the nose for one of your stupid phones.I just wanna scream.Nothing ever goes smoothly there's always all this shit you hafta deal with. Now I have no way of calling Danielle back about her windows and she will be pissed off.Oh yeah and she wanted to hang up these framed pictures that said "VOGUE" on them in the living room.Gross.I mean the place is girly enough as it is.She has pink coasters with high heels on them,a pink leather tissue box holder, and all this other pink crap. And everyone knows how girly i am.Sorry I'm just in a bad mood and everything is getting to me.I'll shut up now.

o yeah and my 3rd or 4th nose retainer doesn't fit so i am fucked there too.the only positive thing from today is that the cable guy is giving me the better cable package and not telling the cable people about it so I only have to pay $10 a month instead of $30 or more.Ok later.

Well it has been a nice day and a half or so since I last wrote in this.Yesterday Danielle and I walked to the Gallery Mall to buy some decorative stuff for the place. We have such different tastes,it's really funny.Last night we went up to Brian's and drank a little bit and just sat around in our pajamas wrapped in blankets watching TV.It's so nice to be so close to his place. We can hang til all hours of the morning now.Today Danielle's mom showed up to pick her up and she brought Brian,Danielle, and me to Ikea to shop around.I HATE IKEA.They put retarded Swedish names on all their cheap shit and then try to make it seem chic and cool.BARF.Or they will sell a note pad and call it "note paad".Give me a break.Anyway that place sucks end of story, because if I talk about it more my head might explode. So when we got back Danielle left and I went up to Brian's and he was like "bring some shit up here we are gonna make dinner" So we made grilled pesto chicken with some penne and cabarnet spaghetti sauce (he also made some nasty looking mushroom crap). So him and I prepared a really nice meal..he says he did most of it but I know I really did haha.We took a picture of the plate because we are complete losers but I will post the pix up.So we then walked to the Fresh Grocer and bought some stuff.Came back and was hangin at his place til Grant called and said he just got outta work and wanted to stop by.So Grant came over and I showed him the place and we sat down and talked for a little. It was really awesome to see him again. We hadn't hung out in a lonnggggg time and I didn't realize how I missed him coming over practically every night last year to hang out.oh well it was just good to see him again.Wellll I'm gonna go.Later my tots.

ok so the electrician came by today...we have electricity but our AC is broken now. That's always the way it goes.So I can stop taking cold showers (yeah the water heater was on the same circuit)by the little emergency torch things we had and start sweating my ass off.Brian finally showed up and knocked on our door this morning. He fixed our drawer that was stuck so it will be good having him upstairs for small crap like that and also the fact that he is like our closest friend here..well him and PJ.Anyway we walked with him to the Fresh Grocer and bought MORE food (spaghetti-o's.This will be my staple food for this year I'm sure).Later on Danielle and I walked to Center City to go buy stuff for the apartment but of course, me + shopping results in purchasing nothing.Danielle bought some stuff for her room so at least it wasn't a completely pointless trip.OOOH yeah and I went to Trader Joe's and bought some Apple-Cranberry juice.Fuck yeah look at me,the big spender. On the way there Brian called me about a billion times to give us updates on one of his neighbors who was stealing cars and was armed and dangerous and how it was on the news.So here I am relaxing.Glad the electricity is back..don't even care about the AC that much.I'm enjoying this apartment though. It's so nice not having to walk thru the halls of a dorm to take a shower or to use the bathroom.AHHH this is great.Anyway goodnite all ;-D
